Field Hockey team ranked first in STX/NFHCA PollBLOOMSBURG— For the second week in a row the Bloomsburg University field hockey team is ranked first in the latest STX/NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) Division II National poll. The Huskies were named the team of the week last week by NCAAsports.com. Bloomsburg's latest win against fifth-ranked East Stroudsburg last Saturday by a 5-0 score. It was the team's 35th consecutive victory dating back to the 2001 season. The Huskies are now 5-0 on the season. Bloomsburg is led by seniors Shelia Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) and Shanna Fritz (Benton/Benton) who have scored six and four goals, respectively. Sophomore Kristy Ney (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) is not far behind with three goals. Steph Beck (Orefield/Parkland), Elyce Morring (York/Central York), Nikki Hartranft (Oley/Oley Valley) and Marie Zorzi (Mountaintop/Crestwood) have each scored twice. Nikki Hartranft (Oley/Oley Valley) and Shanna Fritz (Benton/Benton) lead the team in assists with two each. In goal for the Huskies, senior Jamie Hartman (Boyertown/Boyertown) and freshman Tracy Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) have allowed only one goal against this season. Hartman has compiled 23 saves this season and her goal against average is 0.19 with a .958 save percentage. She also has recorded three shutouts.
