Field Hockey Ranked First in STX/NFHCA National Poll

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University field hockey team is ranked first in the nation in the latest STX/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll for the fourth consecutive week.

The Huskies broke the NCAA Division II consecutive win record yesterday with a 5-0 win over Slippery Rock. Bloomsburg is now 10-0 on the year, and 9-0 in PSAC play.

Leading the team in goals is Shelia Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) with 10 goals on the year. Shanna Fritz (Benton/Benton) has scored seven, while Nikki Hartranft (Oley/Oley Valley) and Elyce Morring (York/Central York) have each chipped in six goals apiece. Fritz leads the team in assists with four and Hartranft has chipped in three assists this season. In goal, Jamie Hartman (Boyertown/Boyertown) has recorded 30 saves and has a goals against average of 0.21. Hartman has four shutouts on the season.

The Huskies will play at Lock Haven Oct. 2, at 7:00 p.m.
