Bloomsburg Field Hockey Team Ranked First in Poll

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University field hockey team is ranked first in the latest STX/NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) Division II National poll.

The Huskies are 3-0 after beating second-ranked Lock Haven in double overtime last weekend. Bloomsburg is led by seniors Shelia Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) and Shanna Fritz (Benton/Benton) who have scored four and three goals, respectively. Sophomore Kristy Ney (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) has also chipped in three goals and Steph Beck (Orefield/Parkland) and Elyce Morring (York/Central York) have each scored twice in the first three games. Nikki Hartranft (Oley/Oley Valley) leads the team in assists with two.

In goal for the Huskies, senior Jamie Hartman (Boyertown/Boyertown) and freshman Tracy Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) have yet to let an opponent score. Hartman has compiled 17 saves this season and her goal against average is 0.00. She also has recorded two shutouts.
