The Huskies and Lady Raiders went nearly 22 minutes in the opening before either team got off a shot in what was a tight defensive game. Shippensburg managed to get off the first shot of the game 21:51 into contest, but the Huskies were able to turn play around and put the ball in the Shippensburg end of the field.

Then with less than 10 minutes to play in the half, the Huskies' Marie Zorzi (Mountaintop/Crestwood) was awarded a penalty stroke after a scramble in front of the goal and converted with a shot to the right of Shippensburg goal Nora Luchansky.

In the second period, Bloomsburg controlled play for much of the half and did not allow Shippensburg to take its first shot until less than 15 minutes were left to play.

Bloomsburg then went up 2-0 off a corner play in the 45th minute. The Huskies' Steph Beck (Orefield/Parkland) triggered the play with a pass to Sharla Partlon (Langhorne/Neshaminy) who then lined up and fired a shot. The shot, though, was deflected by Beck, who scored an insurance goal for the Huskies.

The Bloomsburg defense then did the rest limiting the Lady Raiders' opportunities with the ball in the circle. One good scoring chance for Shippensburg came with 1:30 to play. Lindsey Knupp shot the ball that got by Huskies' goalie Jamie Hartman (Boyertown/Boyertown). However, Julie Orner (Oxford/Oxford) came in with a defensive save preserving the shutout for the Huskies.

Partlon was named the MVP of the game for her outstanding play in the middle of the field as well as coming up with one assist in the game.

Bloomsburg, now 20-2, and Shippensburg, 19-3, will now await word on the NCAA playoffs which start next week. The bids to the championships will be announced on Monday.
