Bloomsburg Tops Assumption in Field Hockey

BLOOMSBURG —The Bloomsburg University field hockey team defeated Assumption on Sunday, 3-1.

The game was scoreless until the 3:38 mark of the first half when Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored off an assist from Sharla Parlton (Langhorne/Neshaminy). Less than two minutes later, Marie Zorzi (Mountaintop/Creswood) scored off another Parlton assist to put the Huskies ahead 2-0 at the end of the half.

Kelly Trevisan (Lancaster/Lancaster) scored Bloomsburg's final goal of the game at the 15:17 mark of the second half. The Huskies gave up their first goal of the season with 2:16 remaining in the game when Kerry Kelly scored for Assumption.

In goal, Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) had four saves, while Assumption's Colleen Haughey talled 14 saves in the game.

Bloomsburg, now 4-0 on the season, will host PSAC-rival, Shippensburg on Wed. Sept. 8 at 4:00 p.m.
