Bloomsburg Routs Bryant in Field Hockey Opener
SMITHFIELD, RI —Kristi Ney and Kristy Kropa scored two goals each to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 6-0 win over Bryant College Sunday in the season opener for both teams.
The Huskies opened the scoring 19 minutes into the game when freshman Morgan Wolf scored off an assist from All-American Sharla Partlon.
Ney notched the next two Bloomsburg goals over a four minutes stretch to put the Huskies up 3-0. Partlon then scored off a Wolf assist to give Bloomsburg a 4-0 lead at the break.
In the second half sophomore Kristy Kropa scored back-to-back goals two minutes apart with Marie Zorzi notching an assist on one of the scores.
In goal, the Huskies' Tracey Hudak stopped two shots to earn her first collegiate shutout.
Bloomsburg, 1-0, will visit Slippery Rock on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
