Bloomsburg Falls to East Stroudsburg in Field Hockey

BLOOMSBURG — The Bloomsburg University field hockey team lost to East Stroudsburg, 3-2 on penalty strokes on Wednesday

The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation sending the game into overtime. In the extra sessions, both the Huskies and the Warriors had opportunities to score, but both teams came up unsuccessful each time, sending the teams into penalty strokes to decide a winner.

After three misses by Bloomsburg and two by East Stroudsburg, the Warriors Jillian Tarnosky scored. After another Bloomsburg miss, East Stroudsburg's Kara Partington scored, giving the Warriors the victory on strokes (one team point awarded to the winner of the stroke competition).

The scoring opened when Jackie Loehwing (York/Dallastown) scored off a Kristi Ney (Dauphin/C.D. East) assist 22:23 into the game. East Stroudsburg's Nicole Kocis scored off an assist from her sister Ashley 1:07 later.

East Stroudsburg opened the second half scoring when Sarah Condora scored off a Nicole Kocis assist 51:15 into the game. Bloomsburg struck back when Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored off a Kristi Kropa (Tunkhannock/Factoryville) assist at the 54:57 mark. The game remained tied at two throughout the remainder of regulation.

In goal, the Huskies' Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) stopped eight shots in 100 minutes of play. For East Stroudsburg, Katie Fox stopped 14 shots.

Bloomsburg falls to 10-3 (7-3 PSAC) with the loss, while East Stroudsburg improves their record to 8-6 (4-6 PSAC). The Huskies return to action on October 9th, when they travel to IUP for a 1:00 p.m. start.
