Bloomsburg's Jan Hutchinson Named Regional Coach of the Year
BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University field hockey coach Jan Hutchinson has been named the 2004 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) South Region Division II Coach of the Year.
Hutchinson is now eligible for national coach of the year honors which will be announced at the NFHCA Awards Luncheon on Jan. 8th, 2005 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Hutchinson guided the Huskies to a mark of 21-3 this past season and the 2004 NCAA Division II national title. The title was the third straight for the Huskies, seventh in the last nine years and 12th in school history. Bloomsburg also won its 13th Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title.
In her career, Hutchinson has coached 81 All-Americans, eight national Players of the Year and has won three national coach of the year awards.
Her lifetime field hockey coaching record stands at 483-64-20 making her the winningest coach all-time, any division, in the history of the sport.
Hutchinson is also coach of the highly successful Bloomsburg University softball team and was recently selected for induction into the Softball Hall of Fame.
