Bloomsburg Wins in Field Hockey; Clinches Home Field Advantage for PSAC Playoffs

BLOOMSBURG —Jackie Loehwing (York/Dallastown) scored a goal and recorded an assist to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 3-0 win over Kutztown on Saturday.

The Huskies got their first two goals in the first 11 minutes of the game. At the 9:26 mark, Kristy Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) scored off an assist from Loehwing to put the Huskies on the board. The second goal of the half came less than two minutes later when Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored off an assist from Marie Zorzi (Mountaintop/Crestwood).

In the second half, Loehwing scored the Huskies' third goal of the contest. Off a corner with 21:57 remaining, Sharla Parlton (Langhorne/Neshaminy) connected on a pass to Kristi Ney (Dauphin/C.D. East) inside the circle. Ney got the ball to Loehwing who was able to put the ball in the back of the net for Bloomsburg.

Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) had four saves in goal for the Huskies.

With the win, the Huskies earn home field advantage for the PSAC Playoffs which will start on Tuesday, October 26 with a time to be announced.
