Bloomsburg Beats Millersville in Field Hockey

MILLERSVILLE — Kristi Ney (Dauphin/C.D. East) scored two goals to lead Bloomsburg University to a 4-1 win over Millersville in PSAC field hockey action Monday afternoon.

The Huskies opened the scoring when Sharla Partlon (Langhorne/Neshaminy) scored unassisted 16:34 into the game. Ney then connected off an assist from Kristy Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) to give Bloomsburg a 2-0 lead at the break.

After Millersville cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal six minutes into the second half, freshman Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored off a Marie Zorzi (Mountaintop/Crestwood) assist with 22 minutes to play in the game for a 3-1 Bloomsburg advantage.

Ney closed out the scoring with a goal less than a minute later off an assist from Heckerd.

Bloomsburg, 7-1 (4-1 PSAC), will host Mansfield on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
