Bloomsburg Shutouts Philadelphia in Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA — The Bloomsburg University field hockey team shutout Philadelphia University, 5-0, on Wednesday.
The Huskies got on the board right before halftime on a penalty corner when Maribeth Brozena (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West) scored off a Sharla Partlon (Langhorne/Neshaminy) assist.
Bloomsburg made it 2-0 when Kristy Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) scored at the 43:41 mark on another assist from Partlon. The Huskies put the game away with goals from Marie Zorzi (Mountaintop/Crestwood), Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greendwood) and Ronni Nace (Liverpool/Greenwood). Picking up assists were Alison Poff (Dallastown/Dallastown), Colleen Greenlee (Lansdale/Lansdale Catholic) and Tara Bourke (Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXXIII).
Bloomsburg goalie Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) stopped two shots to earn the shutout victory.
Bloomsburg, 13-3, will host Millersville on Saturday at noon in PSAC action.
