Huskies Drop Conference Game to Shippensburg

BLOOMSBURG —The Bloomsburg University field hockey team fell, 2-1 to Shippensburg in PSAC play on Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 in the first half, when Kristi Ney (Dauphin/C.D. East) scored off an assist from Kristy Kropa (Tunkhannock/Factoryville) less than five minutes into the game.

Shippensburg responded in the second half, scoring off a corner at the 31:43 mark at the start at the second half. After two saves from Bloomsburg's goalie, Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman), the Lady Raiders earned another corner with 13 minutes remaining. After a scramble near the goal box, the Lady Raiders scored to take a permanent lead over the Huskies.

In goal for Bloomsburg, Hudak recorded eight saves. The loss moves the Huskies to 10-2 on the season, 7-2 in the PSAC.

The Huskies will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 6, when they host East Stroudsburg at 4:00 p.m.
