Bloomsburg Shuts out Slippery Rock in Field Hockey

BLOOMSBURG —Jackie Loehwing (York/Dallastown) scored one goal and recorded one assist as the Bloomsburg University field hockey team shutout Slippery Rock, 4-0. The win improves the Huskies' record to 10-1, 7-1 in the PSAC.

The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Kelly Trevisan (Lancaster/Lancaster) scored off an assist from Loehwing less than 15 minutes into the first period. Bloomsburg's second goal came 54 seconds later when Sharla Partlon (Langhorne/Neshaminy) scored for the Huskies. Kristy Kropa (Tunkhannock/Factoryville) scored the final goal of the half for the Huskies off an assist from Alison Poff (Dallastown/Dallastown) with 3:52 remaining in the first period.

In the second half the Huskies got their final goal of the game when Loehwing scored off an assist from Marie Zorzi (Mountaintop/Crestwood) four minutes into the period. In goal for Bloomsburg, Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) recorded one save as the Huskies out shot Slippery Rock, 29-1.

Bloomsburg will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 2, when they host PSAC-rival Shippensburg at 1:00 p.m.
