Bloomsburg Field Hockey Ranked Second in the Nation
BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University field hockey team remained the second ranked team in the nation according to the 2005 STX/NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) Division II National Coaches Poll. The Huskies are only second to Shippensburg University who stayed at number one in the poll.
The Huskies only loss came to number one ranked Shippensburg last week where the Raiders defeated Bloomsburg by a score of 6-2. The Huskies rebounded from the loss by picking up two wins against Houghton and IUP by scores of 4-0 and 3-1, respectively.
Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) led the team with three goals and one assist in their three games last week, while freshman Jamie Vanartsdalen (Philadelphia/Lower Moreland) added a goal and two assists. Vanartsdalen is also leading the team in scoring on the season with 18 points on six goals and six assists, while Kropa is second with 17 points on eight goals and one assist.
Bloomsburg is 9-1, 5-1 in the PSAC, and will be on the road against Mansfield and Millersville this week.
