Kristi Ney Earns CoSIDA Academic Honor

BLOOMSBURG--Bloomsburg University field hockey standout Kristi Ney (Dauphin/Central Dauphin) has been selected to the 2006 CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) ESPN The Magazine District 2 At-Large All-Academic Team. Ney was a third team selection.

Named Bloomsburg's 2005-06 Female Scholar-Athlete and Senior Female Athlete of the Year, Ney was a Speech Pathology major, had a 3.74 GPA. On the field in 2005, Ney scored nine goals and added eight assists for the Huskies. She finished her career with 36 goals and 15 assists for a total of 87 points, the 10th best total in school history. She was named All-American and All-PSAC first team twice in her career and was also named a PSAC and Bloomsburg Scholar-Athlete each of the past two seasons.

Ney helped the Huskies to three NCAA Division II National Championships and three PSAC titles during her career.

To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team a student-athlete has to be at least a sophomore academically, a starter or significant reserve and have a GPA of at least 3.25.
