Bloomsburg Field Hockey Ranks First in the Country
BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team is ranked number one in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Coaches poll for the sixth week in a row.
The Huskies, 17-0 and 12-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), have dominated their opposition so far in the 2006 season. Bloomsburg has outscored their opposition 79-16 and have out shot competitors 431-143.
Sophomore's Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) and Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock /Lackawanna Trail) are also ranked one and two in the country in points per game. Vanartsdalen leads the Huskies with 22 goals and eight assists, averaging 3.25 points per game. Kropa is second on the team with 20 goals and four assists, averaging 2.75 points per game. Defensively for the Huskies, Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake Lehman) has 82 saves with a save percentage of .845 and 15 goals allowed. Hudak is currently ranked fourth in the country in goals against average (1.04).
Bloomsburg will travel to sixth ranked East Stroudsburg on Saturday at noon.
