Bloomsburg Field Hockey Ranked in National and Regional Polls

The Bloomsburg University field hockey team has been ranked both nationally and regionally this week. The Huskies are ranked second in the latest STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division II Poll. The team is also ranked in this week’s NCAA Division II regional Field Hockey Poll at number three. The poll determines the six teams that will participate in the regional round of 2007 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championships.

Bloomsburg (12-2, 8-2 PSAC) dropped a heartbreaker to number one IUP this past Saturday, 2-1 in their last contest.

The Huskies are led by Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) with 23 goals and 15 assists. Vanartsdalen also leads the PSAC in goals scored and in points with 61.

Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) is second on the team in scoring with 17 goals and two assists, while Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) is third with 10 goals and four assists for Bloomsburg.

Bloomsburg will host Seton Hill on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and then will return to PSAC action when Mansfield visits All-Sports Stadium on Saturday at Noon.
