Bloomsburg Field Hockey Stays at Number Two
BLOOMSBURG -- The Bloomsburg University Field Hockey team is ranked 2nd in the 2007 STX/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll this week.
The second-ranked Huskies have won three straight since losing top-ranked Indiana, (Pa) more than a week ago. The Huskies knocked off East Stroudsburg 3-1 last Tuesday, defeated Seton Hill 6-0 on Thursday, and finished the week with a 4-1 win over Mansfield on Saturday. Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) made history twice in that seven day span. Vanartsdalen set the school single-season scoring record on Thursday night, then on Saturday took down the Bloomsburg career scoring record. Vanartsdalen now has 71 points on the season and 178 for her career. She also leads all NCAA divisions in points-per-game with 4.16.
Bloomsburg leads the PSAC in total offense and scoring with 100 goals this season, 46 more than anyone else in the conference. The Huskies are second in the conference in goals allowed, ceding an average of less than one goal-per-game.
Bloomsburg returns to action this week on Wednesday, October 17th when they host rival Shippensburg. Start time is set for 4 PM.
