Field Hockey ranked number one
BLOOMSBURG -- The Bloomsburg University Field Hockey team is ranked 1st overall in the 2007 STX/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll this week.
The top ranked Huskies have won 28 straight games and are coming off a 10-0 victory over Millersville this past Saturday. Bloomsburg is led by forwards Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) and Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail). Vanartsdalen leads the PSAC in goals with 11 and in total points with 29. Kropa is close behind, as her seven goals and 16 overall points currently is 4th best in the conference. Bloomsburg goalie Allison Ziants(Winfield/Selinsgrove) has been shutting down opponents this season with a .33 goals against average, second best in the PSAC. The undefeated Huskies lead the PSAC in both total offense (9.25 goals per game) and goals allowed (0.25 goals per game).
Bloomsburg will be in action this week on Tuesday, September 11th when they travel to Indiana, (Pa.) to face the third-ranked Crimson Hawks. They return home on Thursday, September 13th to host the University of Philadelphia. Both games start at 4 PM.
