Bloomsburg University Field Hockey Drops to Number Three
BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team, have been ranked third in the latest STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division II Poll this week.
Bloomsburg (5-1, 2-1 PSAC) lost to Indiana University of PA last week 5-1, ending the Huskies 28-game winning streak. The loss was the first for the Huskies since the 2005 NCAA championship game against UMass-Lowell. Bloomsburg rebound later in the week with a 5-1 win over East Stroudsburg University.
The Huskies are led by Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) with 17 goals and nine assists. Vanartsdalen also leads PSAC in goals with 17 and in points with 43 and averages 6.14 goals a game.
Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) is second on the team in scoring with eight goals and one assist. While Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) is third with seven goals and two assists for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg will be on the road this week, traveling to Mansfield on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. start and then facing Shippensburg on Saturday at 2 p.m.
