Bloomsburg Field Hockey Falls to Kutztown

BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team suffered its first loss of the 2009 season by a 2-1 score to Kutztown University Monday night at Sports Stadium. The loss snapped an 18-game winning streak for the Huskies dating back to last season.

The Huskies wasted little time getting on the board scoring just 4:18 into the game with a goal by Breanne Tobin (Perkasie/Pennridge). Kutztown tied the score at 1-1 with less than 10 minutes before halftime. The score stayed 1-1 until the 59th minute when Julie Rosenkaimer scored the winning goal for the Golden Bears. The Huskies did have two final chances to tie the game getting two penalty corners in the final seconds, including one with no time left, but could not score. In goal, Caitlin Koczynski (Yardley/Neshaminy) had two saves for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg, 3-1, 0-1 PSAC East, will travel to C. W. Post on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
