Bloomsburg Field Hockey Still No. 1 in National Poll

BLOOMSBURG -- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team remained atop the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll this week. The three-time defending NCAA champion Huskies are coming off a week in which they went 2-0 and outscored their opponents by a margin of 12-0.

The Huskies, 16-1, 6-1 PSAC East, defeated fourth-ranked East Stroudsburg by a score of 4-0 on Friday, and followed with an 8-0 victory over Catawba College on Sunday. Sophomore Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) was named the PSAC East Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after scoring three goals and two assists this week. Riley leads the PSAC in points (46) and goals (20). Breanne Tobin (Perkasie/Pennridge) in second on the team in scoring with 15 goals and four assists, while Maggey Bloskey (Danville/Danville) has ten goals and a team-high nine assists.

Defensively, the Huskies have held their opponents to only 14 goals this season. In the net, Caitlin Koczynski (Yardley/Neshaminy) has a goals-against average of 0.93 with 54 saves. The Huskies will travel to Millersville this Friday, October 23, at 3:00 p.m.
