Huskies Earn All-American Lacrosse Honors

BLOOMSBURG—TwoBloomsburg University players were named All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. The pair received their honors at a banquet June 9.

Senior midfielder Roxann Emerick (Zionsville/Boyertown) was also named a first-team All-American midfielder. Emerick was Lacrosse Magazine's pre-season player of the year and named Bloomsburg's team MVP.

Emerick led the team with 51 goals during the 2001 season. She had multiple scores in 13 of 15 games, including four or more goals in a game seven times. Emerick also added seven assists to her totals.

Over her four-year career, Emerick totaled 144 goals and 30 assists. She has been named a first-team All-American each of the past two seasons, and earned second-team honors her freshman year. She is a three-time first team All-PSAC selection as well as being named the 2000 lacrosse nominee for the Honda Woman Athlete of the Year award.

Named to the first-team All-American on defense was senior midfielder Margo Wiley (New Britain/Central Bucks West). Wiley was the fourth-leading goal scorer for Bloomsburg in 2001.

In addition to 16 goals and 11 assists in 2001, Wiley also helped lead the Bloomsburg defense. The Huskies outscored their opponents by an average of three goals per game. She is a three-time first-team honoree, and has been named a second-team All-American each of the past two seasons as well. She scored 34 goals and 22 assists during her four years.

The Huskies finished the 2001 season with a record of 9-6 overall, 3-3 in the PSAC.
