Huskies Named All-PSAC in LacrosseBLOOMSBURG—Nine members of the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team have been named All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for the 2002 season. Named to the first team was Katie Maclean on offense, while Rachel Keller and Julie Minogue were named first team defense with Yshonda Wisher earning first team goalkeeper honors. Named second team All-PSAC were Georgia Carinci and Sheila Zilinski on offense and Nicole Settanni, Steph Straup and Marci Zilinski on defense. Maclean emerged as one of the Huskies “go-to” players after missing much of last year with a knee injury. The senior rebounded with a team-high 39 goals, while finishing second in assists with 19 for a team-best 58 points. Her per game average of 4.46 points was third best in the PSAC this season. Keller was a key midfield component for the Huskies this season helping with the transition from defense to offense. She finished the year with two goals and two assists while helping the team to a total of 197 goals for the year. Mingoue was also a standout in the midfield for the Huskies with very good offensive skills. The sophomore used those offensive skills to score a career-high 20 goals, while adding six assists. Minogue's best offensive game of the year was a four-goal effort against Stonehill in a 12-9 win for the Huskies while in Florida. Wisher, who was also named the MVP for the Huskies, had a tremendous season for Bloomsburg. She finished with a goals against average of 9.87 and a save percentage of .590. Her save percentage is seventh best in NCAA Division II this season. In all she stopped 183 shots in 772 minutes played. Wisher tied a school-record with 23 saves in a game with C.W. Post early in the year. For Wisher the first team honor is the second of her career. Carinici was named second team All-PSAC after finishing second in goals scored this season for Bloomsburg with 34 and third in assists with 17. Her point total of 51 was good for second on the team and gives 108 points in just two years. (The Bloomsburg career record for points is 156). Five times during the season Carinici led the Huskies in goals for a game, including a career-high six against East Stroudsburg late in the year. Carinci was last year's PSAC Rookie of the Year. Sheila Zilinski made the transition from field hockey to lacrosse a smooth one as she finished with 29 goals and seven assists this year. Zilinski saved one of her best game's for last when she tallied five goals in the PSAC title game against eventual national champion West Chester. Settanni moved into a starting role this season and flourished on the defensive side of the ball. Her play as a low defender helped the Huskies limit opponents to 135 goals scored on the year. Straup, playing on the collegiate level for the first time, again made a smooth transition into the starting lineup for the Huskies. Straup not only was solid on defense, but did also contribute on the offensive side of the ball as well with three goals and four assists. Marci Zilinski joins her sister Sheila as a second-team All-PSAC performer. Marci is a two-year starter who helped keep in check the opponents top-players. She, like her sister, is also a starter on defense for the Bloomsburg field hockey team. The Huskies finished the year with a record of 10-4, 5-1 in the PSAC. The Huskies lost by one goal in the PSAC title game, 12-11, to West Chester.
