Bloomsburg Falls to West Chester in PSAC Championships

WEST CHESTER, PA- The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team fell to West Chester, 12-11, in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship game Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams jumped to a 7-2 halftime lead, but the Huskies battled back in the second half. With 8:22 left in the game, Sheila Zilinski scored to bring the game to a 9-9 tie. West Chester would pull ahead, 10-9 with a goal by Kara Muenker, but Katie Maclean answered with a goal at the 3:13 mark to tie the game at 10-10. A goal by Dulcie Royer put the Golden Rams on top, 11-10, at the 2:55 mark. With just one minute left, Zilinski scored to tie the game for the third time, but the Huskies were unable to stop Kathleen Sheehan, the PSAC's leading scorer, who notched the winning goal with 39 seconds to go.

Zilinski finished with a career-high five goals, while Katie Maclean added three goals for the Huskies. West Chester was led by Sheehan and Royer who each finished with three goals and one assist.

Bloomsburg finishes the season at 10-4, while West Chester, 11-2, expects to claim a berth in the NCAA Division II National Championships.
