Huskies Drop Indiana (PA) in Lacrosse

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team (8-8, 7-5 PSAC) defeated Indiana University (PA) (2-15, 1-11 PSAC) on Saturday, 17-7.

The Huskies got off to an early start and led 2-0 on goals from Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) and Georgia Carinci (Springmount/Perkiomen Valley) just 46 seconds apart. The Indians tied things up at 2-2 with goals from Megan Lung and Amy Wood. The Huskies answered and took a 7-4 lead into halftime on two goals a piece from Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West) and Danielle Yeager (Delran/Delran), and another from Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester).

The Huskies pulled away in the second half scoring 10 goals, while only allowing three. Carinci led the charge in the second half with three goals, while Yeager added two more. Pam Cianni (Barto/Upper Perkiomen), Brandy McPherson (Pottstown/Pottstown), Allison McFatridge (Hatboro/Upper Moreland), Childs, and Zilinski also added goals in the half. Bloomsburg ended the game on a 5-0 run.

Indiana's Amy Hood played a solid game for the Indians scoring the last six Indian goals.

With the win, the Huskies move into third place in the PSAC. Carinci now has a team record 75 goals this season to go along with 22 assists. She is three points away from becoming the first player in Bloomsburg history to score 100 points in a season. Bloomsburg will start the PSAC post-season at Shippensburg on Tuesday.
