Box Score

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team lost to Lock Haven on Saturday, 10-9 at Bloomsburg. In the loss, Bloomsburg senior Georgia Carinci (Springmount/Perkiomen Valley) became the Huskies all-time leader in goals scored when she netted two goals on the afternoon.

Bloomsburg opened the scoring just 3:18 into the game when Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) scored off a Danielle Yeager (Delrean, NJ/Delran) assist. Lock Haven took the lead back at 2-1 on goals from Jenna Richter and Jean Kearney less than a minute apart. The Huskies then scored three straight times, one of them by Carinci which tied her for the school career lead in goals scored at 156.

The Lady Eagles then tied the score at 4-4 when Richter scored two consecutive goals. After Bloomsburg regained the lead on a goal from Yeager, Lock Haven tied the score for the third time in the game when Lindsey McGuire scored off an assist from Diana Strizki. Carinci then established a new Bloomsburg record with her 157th career goal to put the Huskies back out in front, 6-5, with less than a minute to go in the half. Lock Haven, though, scored 10 seconds later to tie the score at 6-6 going into halftime.

Lock Haven opened the second half scoring three of the first four goals with Strizki getting two of them for the Lady Eagles. Bloomsburg pulled to within a goal at 9-8, when Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) scored with 5:17 to play in the game. However, Amy Richter scored with 1:29 to play, a goal which turned out to be the game-winner after Zilinski scored for Bloomsburg with a minute left. Bloomsburg did get the ball back in the Lock Haven end in the final minute, but could not get off a shot.

Carinci, who also holds the Huskies' career mark for points, broke the goal scoring record of Kelly Cuthbert (1986-89).

Bloomsburg is now 5-5, 4-3 in the PSAC, while Lock Haven is 5-5, 4-4 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg plays at West Chester on Monday starting at 3:30 p.m.
