Huskies Defeat Millersville in Lacrosse

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University Huskies (4-3, 3-1 PSAC East) defeated Millersville University (3-5, 2-3 PSAC East) on Saturday, 12-6.

Millersville scored the first goal of the game less than a minute in. The Huskies Brandy McPherson (Pottstown/Pottstown) answered with a goal to tie the game up early. The Marauders then scored another quick goal to take the lead before Bloomsburg's Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) and Georgia Carinci (Springmount/Perkiomen Valley) scored back-to-back goals to help Bloomsburg take a 3-2 lead. Millersville then tied things up 3-3 before Danielle Yeager (Delran, NJ/ Delran), Carinci and Zilinski scored three straight goals to give the Huskies a 6-3 lead going into the half.

In the second half Zilinski and Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) scored the first two goals to push the Bloomsburg advantage to 8-3. After two Marauder goals brought the score to 8-5, Carinci scored her third of the game, giving the Huskies a four goal advantage. Yeager then added back-to-back goals to put the game out of reach. Carinci scored the Huskies final goal of the game with 2:10 remaining to help Bloomsburg pick up their third straight win.

Linda Schultz (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) played well in net for the Huskies, saving nine shots on the afternoon.

The Huskies return to action on April 5th as they travel to Indiana (PA) to take on the Indians at 4:00 p.m.
