Bloomsburg Downs Millersville in Lacrosse

BLOOMSBURG The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team inched a step closer to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoff berth with a 12-6 win over Millersville University Thursday afternoon.
The win puts the Huskies in position to claim the third spot in next week's PSAC playoffs with a win over last place Indiana (PA) on Saturday.
The two teams were tied at 2-2 after the first seven minutes of the game before the Huskies scored back-to-back goals to get control of the game. Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) scored unassisted with 19 minutes to play, then Georgia Carinci (Springmount/Perkiomen Valley) followed up with a goal off an assist from Danielle Yeager (Delran, NJ/Delran) two minutes later for a 4-2 lead.
Then, later, leading 8-4 at the break, the Huskies scored four consecutive goals over a 19-minute span to put the game away.
Yeager led the Huskies with five goals, while Zilinski added four and Carinci two with Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) chipping in with one.
In goal, Bloomsburg got six saves from Linda Schultz (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) and two from Stacey Grapetine (Cream Ridge, NJ/New Egipt) .
Millersville was led by Mary Rafalowski and Christina Nunez with two goals each.
