Bloomsburg Drops Lacrosse Game to Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team dropped an 18-14 decision to Shippensburg on Thursday.
The Huskies scored first in the game when Ashley Childs scored off a Sheila Zilinski assist just 50 seconds into the game. Shippensburg would rally and led 5-4 after a goal by Laura Warrington with 9:44 left in the first half. Georgia Carinci then knotted the game at 5-5 when she scored off a Honeywell assist with 8:07 to play. The Lady Raiders then shut down the Huskies, while getting four goals of their own to take a 9-5 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Bloomsburg closed the gap to 10-7 after a goal by Sheila Zilinski with 26:53 to play. After a Shippensburg goal made it 11-7, back-to-back goals by Carinci and Danielle Yeager brought the Huskies to within 11-9 at the 23:22 mark. However, the Lady Raiders scored three of the game's next four goals to take a 14-10 lead and grab control of the game for good.
Zilinski led the Huskies with six goals and one assist, while Carinci finished with four goals and one assist.
The Huskies host East Stroudsburg Saturday.
