Bloomsburg Drops Lacrosse Game to West Chester; Carinci Sets Single-Game Scoring Mark
Box Score
WEST CHESTER The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team dropped an 18-17 decision to West Chester on Monday. In the game, Bloomsburg's Georgia Carinci (Springmount/Perkiomen Valley) set a new Bloomsburg single game record with nine goals.
The Huskies trailed 12-7 at halftime, but out scored the Golden Rams, 10-6, in the second half to make it close. Late in the game West Chester took an 18-14 lead after a Katlyn Martin goal with 4:50 left to play. Bloomsburg, though, rallied with three straight goals in the final minutes, but came up one short.
Carinci scored four times in the first half and added five more in the second half to break the Huskies' mark she had shared with Meghan Vernon, set in 1995, and Nancy Warmerdam, set in 1988.
In addition to nine goals from Carinci, Sheila Zilinski added four, Danielle Yeager three and Alison McFatridge one.
The Huskies, who have dropped three straight one-goal games, fall to 5-6, 4-4 in the PSAC. West Chester goes to 11-1, 8-0 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg will host Shippensburg on Thursday at 4 p.m.
