Bloomsburg Drops East Stroudsburg in Lacrosse

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team (5-3, 4-1 PSAC) defeated East Stroudsburg University (1-3, 1-3 PSAC) on Wednesday, 16-12.

In the first half, East Stroudsburg struck first just over three minutes into the game, but Bloomsburg senior

Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) evened the score on an unassisted goal 17 seconds later.  Zilinski added two more first half scores, while Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) had two goals and Danielle Yeager (Delran/Delran) tallied one.  Both teams exchanged goals the rest of the half with the Huskies dominating most of the play.  Bloomsburg held the 6-5 edge over the visiting Warriors at intermission.  The Huskies limited East Stroudsburg in their number of shots, although the Warriors were able to convert on the majority of their chances.

After the teams continued to exchange goals early in the second half, East Stroudsburg's Renee Maniscalco tied the game at 8-8 just under six minutes into the half.  The Huskies broke away with four unanswered goals from

Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester), Zilinski, Toms, and Yeager.  Toms added two more second half scores, while Zilinski and Yeager each added one.  Bloomsburg held the lead for the rest of the game on their way to their third straight victory.

The Warriors' Leah Quigley and Diana Ferguson had impressive performances, combining to score nine of their team's 12 goals.

With the win, the Huskies are currently second in the PSAC standings and will next travel to Millersville on April 4th for a 4:00 p.m. start.
