Bloomsburg Downs East Stroudsburg in Lacrosse

EAST STROUDSBURG —Dani Yeager (Delran, NJ/Delran) scored five goals and had four assists to lead the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team to a 21-12 win over East Stroudsburg on Monday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

The Huskies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game before the Warriors cut the margin to 3-2 just two minutes later. Bloomsburg then went on a scoring spree getting four straight and 13 of the last 14 goals of the half to open a 16-3 lead at the break. Yeager led the way for the Huskies by scoring three times and getting two assists over the final 18 minutes of the period.

To start the second half, East Stroudsburg rallied and cut the deficit to 16-8 with 20 minutes to play. However, Yeager, Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown), Jamie Spitzer (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) and Meaghan McDugall (Blue Bell/Wissahicckon) each scored once to make it a 20-8 game with less than nine minutes to play.

Along with Yeager's five goals, Zilinski, McDugall, and Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) each scored three times. Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Catholic) stopped six shots in goal for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies, now 9-5, 8-3 in the PSAC, host Mercyhurst on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
