Bloomsburg Rallies For Lacrosse Win over Millersville

MILLERSVILLE —Bloomsburg University rallied from a 4-2 halftime deficit to post a 9-8 win over Millersville University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) lacrosse action Monday afternoon.
The Huskies opened the game's scoring with a Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) goal just 2:04 into play. The Marauders then scored four straight goals to grab a 4-1 lead with 9:19 to play in the first half. Freshman Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) then scored for the Huskies with 7:07 to play off a Danielle Yeager (Delran, NJ/Delran) assist to make it a 4-2 game at halftime.
Bloomsburg then scored three straight goals to start the second half to take a 5-4 lead. Toms, Allison McFatridge (Hatboro/Upper Moreland) and Zilinski all scored for the Huskies. After Millersville tied the score, Bloomsburg scored four more consecutive goals to take a 9-5 lead. Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) scored twice in the run with Toms and Angela Picciotti (Chalfont/Chalfont) each getting one goal in a seven minute span.
Millersville then put together a rally and scored three straight times over a span of 1:27, but the Huskies then clamped down the defense and controlled play for much of the final seven minutes of the game to get the win.
Toms led the Huskies with three goals, while Childs and Zilinski each scored twice.
The Huskies, 6-3, 5-1 in the PSAC, will host Indiana (PA) on Thursday at 4 p.m.
