Bloomsburg Downs Millersville in Lacrosse

BLOOMSBURG—Alison McFatridge (Hatboro/Upper Moreland) scored three times to lead the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team to a 12-8 win over Millersville University on Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
Bloomsburg improves to 11-5, 9-3 in the PSAC, while Millersville falls to 5-9, 5-7 in the PSAC with the loss.
Millersville struck first in the game off a goal from Liz Richmond just 3:11 into the game. The Huskies came back and took a 2-1 lead with back-to-back goals from Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) and Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester).
Later, with the scored tied at 3-3, the Huskies took control of the action by scoring six consecutive goals to take a 9-3 lead. Three of those six goals came in a 46 second span with less than seven minutes to play in the half. Dani Yeager (Delran, NJ/Delran) got things started for Bloomsburg with a goal with 10:08 left in the half. Then Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) scored 29 seconds later for a 5-3 Bloomsburg lead. McFatridge then scored back-to-back goals for the Huskies for a 7-3 edge, before Taylor and Toms scored for the second time in the period to give Bloomsburg a 9-3 lead.
Millersville later trimmed the score to 9-6 with a goal before halftime and one three minutes into the second half. However, Bloomsburg answered with two scores for an 11-6 lead. The Marauders did get to within 11-8 with three straight goals in a nine-minute stretch of the second half, but McFatridge sealed the win with a goal with 1:11 showing left in the game.
The Huskies will be back in action on Tuesday visiting Lock Haven for the start of the PSAC playoffs at a time to be determined.
