Bloomsburg Advances to PSAC Lacrosse Championship

LOCK HAVEN—Sheila Zilinski's goal with 1:03 left in the second overtime lifted the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team to a 12-10 over Lock Haven in the semi-finals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships. The Huskies, now 12-5, will face the winner of the other semi-final matchup between West Chester-East Stroudsburg on Saturday for the conference title.
The Huskies held a 7-5 lead at halftime behind two goals each from Zilinski and Cali Toms. Lock Haven rallied with four straight goals to start the second half to take a 9-7 lead. Bloomsburg eventually tied the score at 9-9 when Toms scored her third goal of the game with 16:01 left to play. Lock Haven then regained the lead before Meg Taylor tied the game at 10-10 with a goal with 11:25 to play.
The game remained scoreless through the remainder of regulation. Then in the first overtime, Zilinski scored the game winner with Toms later getting an insurance goal with a second to play in the second overtime. (lacrosse overtime plays through the two overtimes.)
The Huskies will be going for their four PSAC title on Saturday after previously winning in 1991, 2000 and 2003.
