Bloomsburg Falls to First Place West Chester in Lacrosse

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team (7-4, 6-2 PSAC) fell to a tough West Chester team (9-0, 8-0 PSAC) by a score of 11-9 on Saturday afternoon.

In the first half, both teams were evenly matched and exchanged goals to a 4-4 tie going into the break.

Both sides continued to battle to start the second period. The Golden Rams were able to outscore the Huskies 7-5 in the half to win by a two goal margin, 11-9.

Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) found the back of the net four times to lead the way for Bloomsburg. Meaghan McDugall (Blue Bell/Wissahickon) added two goals, while Danielle Yeager (Delran, NJ/Delran) and Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) recorded a goal and an assist each. Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) tallied two assists, while Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) scored once for the Huskies. Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Catholic) had a strong performance in goal making 12 saves.

Katelyn Martin led the way for West Chester with three goals, while Caitlin Pettit, Christa Somits, and Danielle Roy each chipped in two goals a piece.

The Huskies will travel to Lock Haven on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
