Toms Powers BU to WIn

BLOOMSBURG--Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) scored five goals to lead the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team to a 17-12 win over Millersville on Wednesday.

The Huskies trailed 3-1 in the early going before scoring six of the next eight goals to go in front 7-5 with 112 minutes left in the opening half. Leading the rally for Bloomsburg was Kim Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan) with three goals and Toms with two.

Millersville rallied and led 9-8 starting the second half and led 11-9 with 25 minutes to go. Bloomsburg then scored six consecutive goals to take the lead for good with Toms scoring two of the six. After Millersville broke the run with a goal, the Huskies scored the final two goals of the game to win 17-12.

In addition to five goals from Toms, Springman added four with Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) getting three assists. Millersville got four goals from Elizabeth Weekley.

The Huskies, 7-5, 7-3 in the PSAC, play at Mercyhurst on Friday at 4 p.m.
