Bloomsburg University Lacrosse Picked to Finish 3rd

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team has been picked to finish third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), according to the PSAC lacrosse coaches.

Bloomsburg returns several key players from a 2007 squad that finished with a record of 9-8 overall, 9-5 in the PSAC under first year head coach Leah Quigley.

The Huskies return three all-PSAC selections in 2008 in Angie Picciotti (Chalfont/Central Bucks West), Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton), and Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Little Flower).

Picciotti, a senior, scored 31 points on 26 goals and five assists in 2007. She led the team in caused turnovers with 36 and was second in ground balls with 46.

Quigley, a junior, finished the 2007 season second on the team in scoring with 39 points, with 29 goals scored and 10 assists. The Huskies most consistent offensive threat, Quigley scored in 15 of 17 games played and led the team in multi-point games with eight.

Maenner, a senior goalkeeper, had 135 saves in goal for the Huskies in 2007. She carried a10.73 goals against average as well as .456 save percentage. Manner had seven games with 10 or more saves, including a 16 save outing against Lock Haven in the PSAC playoffs.

West Chester takes the top spot in the preseason poll, followed by Lock Haven, Bloomsburg, Shippensburg, IUP, Millersville, East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock.

Bloomsburg opens their 2008 campaign Tuesday, March 11th when they travel to Hilton Head, SC to take on Pfeiffer University. The action gets underway at 11 a.m.
