Chirichella Leads Huskies to Win

BLOOMSBURG- Mary Chirichella (Petersburg, NJ/Ocean City) scored three goals, two in the final 13 minutes of play to lead the Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team to a 13-5 victory over Shippensburg on Monday afternoon.
The Huskies would race out to a 4-1 lead in the first 15 minutes courtesy of a goal and an assist from Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton). After a Shippensburg goal from Karen Schnurr, the Huskies got goals from Chirichella and Angie Picciotti (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) to take a 6-2 lead into the break.
In the second period, Shippensburg would cut the lead down to two, 7-5, with 18:15 remaining in the game. From there, Bloomsburg would pull away. Quigley scored twice in the second half as the Huskies scored the last six goals of the game.
Kim Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan) added two goals, while Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Little Flower) had eight saves in goal for the Huskies. Kelly Erisman led Shippensburg with two goals.
With the win, Bloomsburg improves their record to 5-5, 5-3 in the PSAC.
The Huskies return to action on Thursday when they host East Stroudsburg. That game gets underway at 4 p.m.
