Bloomsburg Lacrosse Team Opens with Win

MOON TOWNSHIP-The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team opened its 2010 season with a 12-7 win over Seton Hill University on Wednesday in a game played at Robert Morris University.

The Huskies led 6-3 at halftime and outscored the home team by a 6-4 margin in the second half to post the five-goal victory. Bloomsburg got goals from eight different players with freshman Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) leading the way with three goals. In addition, Kim Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan) and Allie Kakareka (Royersford/Spring-Ford) each scored two goals and had two assists. Also scoring one goal and getting two assists were Tia Mazzie (Barton/Boyertown) and Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) with Sam King (Elkton, MD/Northeast) and Lyndsey Babilon (Boyertown/Boyertown) scoring one goal each.

Devyn Mulholland (Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) and Shelby Iezzi (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) split time in goal for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg, 1-0, will play at Belmont Abbey on Monday at 3 p.m.
