Bloomsburg Falls to West Chester in Men's BasketballWEST CHESTER —Robert Williams scored a game-high 21 points to lead West Chester University to a 70-60 win over Bloomsburg University in men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. West Chester (18-3, 7-0 PSAC East) held the early lead in the game at 12-6 before the Huskies (6-14, 2-5 PSAC East) came back to within one, 12-11, on a basket by Matt Jefferson (Philadelphia/Engineering and Science) and a three-pointer from Tom Barlow (Dresher/Upper Dublin). The Golden Rams then went on a 12-1 run to grab a 24-13 lead with 7:30 left in the first half. Later in the half, a three-pointer by Williams would give the Golden Rams their biggest lead of the half, 34-21, with 45 seconds left before a Barlow basket would make it an 11-point game at the break. In the second half, with West Chester leading by 10, 46-36, the Huskies' Adam Bohman (Sussex, NJ/Vernon Twp) scored six straight points to get Bloomsburg to within four points, 46-42, with 9:03 left in the game. However, the Golden Rams answered with a 10-0 run of their own to go up 14, 56-42, with 7:11 left in the game. The Huskies did cut the lead back to seven, 62-55, after Justin Scott (Philadelphia/Engineering and Science) hit one of two free throws, but that would be as close as the Huskies would get. West Chester hit six of nine from the free throw line in the final minute to secure the victory. Along with Williams' 21 points for West Chester, Ramzee Stanton added 19 points and 15 rebounds with Sam Grannum getting 10. Bohman led the Huskies with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Ryan Luckman (York/York Catholic) added 11 points and seven rebounds. Bloomsburg will host Millersville Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at the Nelson Field House. |
