Bloomsburg Falls to Indiana (PA) in Men's BasketballBLOOMSBURG—Ed Peterson scored a team-high 20 points to lead Indiana (PA) to an 86-78 win over Bloomsburg University in men's basketball Friday night. Indiana led for the entire game, except for a brief 2-2 tie early in the game. The Huskies had trouble handling the ball and turned it over on its first three possessions. The Indians took advantage of the sloppy play and scored 16 points off the Huskies' turnovers in the first half. Overall, the Huskies finished with an uncharacteristic 26 turnovers. With IUP leading 10-8 at the 12:14 mark, the Indians went on a 15-3 run to go up by 14 points, 25-11, with 7:02 to play. Gary Franklin scored nine points for the Indians in the run. IUP increased the lead to 19 points later in the half when a three pointer by Mike Magel made it 36-17 with 3:18 left in the first half. Leading by 13 points at halftime, the Indians came out firing in the second half and quickly put the game out of reach by going on a 16-5 run in the first five minutes. Eric Castoria and Keenan Holmes each scored five points in the run for IUP. Bloomsburg did fight back and pulled to within 10 points, 73-63, with 3:13 to play on a dunk by Tom Barlow, but that would be as close as the Huskies would get till a final tip-in by Jason Benson with just a few seconds remaining. Along with Peterson's 20 points, Franklin added 17, Fannar Olafsson had 12 and Keenan Holmes 11 for Indiana, now 5-1. Bloomsburg, which falls to 2-3, was led by Barlow's career-high 28 points, while Adam Bohman and Matt Jefferson each added 12 points. Jason Benson chipped in with 10 points. The Huskies host Shippensburg Saturday at 3 p.m. in their next game. |
