Huskies Down Lycoming College in Men's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG—Jason Benson (Pittsburgh/Schenley) scored a team-high 20 points to lead Bloomsburg University to a 90-80 win over Lycoming College in men's college basketball action Tuesday night.
Bloomsburg held the early advantage in the game jumping out to a 10-3 lead in the first four minutes. The Warriors, though battled back and tied the game at 10-10 on a three-point play from L,J. Huggler at the 15 minute mark. Lycoming then grabbed the lead for the first time on two free throws from Matt Stackhouse and increased the margin to seven points, 27-20, on a lay-up by Stackhouse with 7:41 to play in the first half.
The Huskies then rallied down the stretch of the first half outscoring the Warriors 17-10 over the final seven minutes of action to tie the game at 37-37. Benson scored eight points and Bob Nenstiel (Nuremburg/Weatherly) six in the run for Bloomsburg.
In the second half, the teams traded leads in the opening minutes before a 10-2 run gave Bloomsburg a 50-43 lead. However, Lycoming would fight back once again and used an 8-0 run to take a 51-50 lead with 12:41 to play. That would be the final lead for the Warriors as Bloomsburg went on another run, this one 13-0, to take a 63-51 lead with 9:56 to play in the game. Adam Bohman (Sussex, NJ/Vernon Twp.) led the Huskies run with six points, including a dunk.
Bloomsburg extended the lead to 17 points, 75-58, on a three-pointer by Tom Barlow (Dresher/Upper Dublin) with 5:15 to play. Lycoming made a small run and got the deficit down to eight with 22 seconds left, but could get no closer.
Along with Benson's 20 points, Bohman added 19 points and nine rebounds, while Barlow chipped in with 18 points. Also, Ryan Luckman hit for a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 11 assists.
Tommy Wesner led the Warriors with 21 points, while Stackhouse added 19 and Huggler 15. Brad Musser was also in double figures with 11 points.
Bloomsburg goes to 2-1 with the win, while Lycoming falls to 2-1 with the loss. Bloomsburg is back in action next Tuesday hosting Shepherd College starting at 7:30 p.m.
