Bloomsburg Falls to Millersville in Men's Basketball

MILLERSVILLE —Gerald Redding scored 20 points to lead Millersville University to an 89-62 win over Bloomsburg University in men's basketball action Wednesday night.

It was all Millersville from the outset as the Marauders opened a 12-point lead in the first seven minutes of the game at 17 –5. Toochi Udeinya netted six points and Redding five points in the run for Millersville. Then with the score 20-10, the Marauders went on a 21-6 run over the next 10 minutes to put the game out of reach. Millersville was red-hot in the opening 20 minutes of play hitting 67 percent of its shots from the floor (19-28), including 7-10 from three-point range.

In the second half, the Marauders pushed their lead to 33 points on two occasions, the last coming after two free throws from Brian Jones made the score 61-28. The Huskies did battle back and get the deficit down to 22 points, 77-55 with 3:35 to play, but that would be as close as they got.

Millersville finished shooting 59 percent from the floor for the game (35-59) and 58 percent from three- point range (10-17).

Redding finished with 20 points and four assists, while Daron Pressley added 16 and Udeinya 15 points for Millersville, now 11-4, 1-0 in the PSAC East.

Matt Jefferson led Bloomsburg, 3-10, 0-1 in the PSAC East, with a career-high 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Luckman added 14 points, while Bohman finished with 11 points for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg will host West Chester Saturday night at 8 p.m. in its next game.
