Short-Handed Huskies Fall to Edinboro in Men's BasketballEDINBORO —Playing without two starters who are out with injury, the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Edinboro Saturday afternoon, 76-62. The Huskies were without Jason Benson (Pittsburgh/Schenley) and Seth Scott (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) who are both out for the season with stress fractures. The Huskies trailed from the start and were down by 13 points, 22-9, with 9:26 to play in the first half. After cutting the margin to seven points, 26-19, on a three-point play by Tom Barlow (Dresher/Upper Dublin), the Fighting Scots pushed the lead back to double digits by halftime and led 38-24 at the break. In the second half, a jumper by Adam Bohman (Sussex, NJ/Vernon Twp.) cut the Edinboro to 10 at 40-30 with 17:04 to play. Edinboro, though, then went on an 11-5 run over the next six minutes to pull away for good at 51-35. Jakim Donaldson and Duke Gartrell scored four points each in the run for the Fighting Scots. The home team led by as many as 19 points with six minutes before the Huskies cut the margin at the end to 14 points. Barlow led the way for the Huskies with 27 points, while grabbing nine rebounds. Bohman was the only other starter in double figures with 12 points. Donaldson led Edinboro with 14 points, while Gartrell and Rob Sims scored 11 each. Bloomsburg falls to 3-4 with the loss, while Edinboro improves to 4-4. The Huskies visit Clarion Sunday at 3 p.m. |
