BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team fell to Slippery Rock University 70-65 Saturday afternoon. The Rock had four players score in double figures led by Dave Freeman with 17. Bloomsburg senior Adam Bohman (Sussex, NJ/Vernon Township) surpassed the 1,000th career point mark on a layup with 14:48 to go in the second half. He led the Huskies with 22 points and eight rebounds and currently has 1,007 career points. Bloomsburg led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but Slippery Rock came back on the strength of its three point shooting. They shot 47 percent from behind the arc, making eight threes in the half. The Huskies took a narrow 30-29 lead into the locker room. Bloomsburg went on an 8-1 run midway through the second half to go ahead by seven points, but the Rock came right back with a 12-1 run to pull ahead by four. Todd Schweitzer (McKees Rocks/Montour) hit a three to cut the deficit to one at 60-59, but the Huskies would get no closer as the Rock went 8-for-9 from the free throw line down the stretch. Joining Freeman in double figure scoring for Slippery Rock were Aaron Epps with 15 points, Bill Johnson with 14, and Dave Johnson with 10. For the Huskies, Ryan Luckman (York/York Catholic) finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Schweitzer finished 4-for-4 from the three-point line finishing with 13 points. |
