Bloomsburg Falls in Men's Basketball to California (PA)

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's basketball lost to California (PA) 84-51 in men's college basketball action Wednesday night.

Cal opened the game with a 5-0 run before the Huskies came back with an 8-0 run capped by a dunk by Ryan Nenstiel (Nuremburg/Weatherly). The Vulcans though rallied with a 10-0 of its own led by four points each from Damar Ruffin and Boris Mesnager.

Then, later with the Vulcans leading 25-10 at the 8:58 mark, the Huskies staged a mini-rally and climbed back into the game. A layup and three-pointer from Ryan Nenstiel and a three-point play from Jeremiah Long (New Columbia/Mifflinburg) pulled Bloomsburg to within nine points, 27-18, with 7:07 left in the half.

Cal though rallied once again and closed out the half with a 18-5 run capped by a layup from Damar Ruffin just before the halftime buzzer.

In the second half Cal scored the first eight points of the period to take a 53-23 lead. The Huskies broke the run with a basket at the 15:23 mark by Bob Nenstiel (Nuremburg/Weatherly).

However, Cal maintained at least a 27-point lead throughout the second half and coasted to the win.

Ruffin and Drew Schifino led the Vulcans, now 2-2, with 17 points each, while Boris Mesnager added 13. Sharif Bray chipped in with 10.

Bloomsburg, now 2-5, was led in scoring by Ryan Nenstiel with 11 points, while Buddy Rose (Philadelphia/Abington Friends) and Bob Nenstiel added nine each.

The Huskies are back in action on Saturday at 3 p.m.
