Bloomsburg Falls in Men's Basketball Saturday

BLOOMSBURG—Iren Rainey and Sean King split 40 points as Cheyney University beat Bloomsburg University, 81-74, in men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
With the loss the Huskies fall to 6-18, 2-7 in the PSAC East, while Cheyney improves to 3-18, 2-7 in the PSAC East.
The teams traded leads in the opening four minutes of the game before the Huskies broke a 14-14 tie with back-to-back three pointers from Ryan Nenstiel (Nuremburg/Weatherly) to take a 20-14 with 14:18 left in the first half. Cheyney rallied and went on a 9-0 run to take a 27-22 lead after a pair of free throws from Andre Logan.
The Huskies came right back and used a 12-6 run to regain the lead at 34-33 on a three-pointer from John Owens (Philadelphia/Abington Friends) at the 6:02 mark. Down the stretch the teams were tied two more times before the Huskies took a 42-40 lead into the locker room courtesy of a pair of Andrew Jerry (Philadelphia/Olney) free throws with 35 seconds to play.
Bloomsburg came out in the second half and grabbed a five point lead at 49-44 with the help of a three-point play from Matt Fisher with 15:17 left in the game. Cheyney quickly tied the game with a three-pointer from Rainey and a bucket from King.
Later, with the team's deadlocked at 53-all with 11:41 to play, the Wolves regained the lead for good on another three-pointer from Rainey. The Wolves would push the lead to six, 66-60, with 6:23 to play before the Huskies got a couple of free throws from Jaren Brudine (Reading/Reading) and a three-point play from Jerry to get back within one.
Cheyney then slowly pulled away grabbing a six-point lead after a pair of free throws from Gregory with 2:32 to play and stretching the margin to 10 points, 81-71, after two free throws from Maurice Bryant with 25 seconds to play.
Bloomsburg was led by Ryan Nenstiel with 16 points, while Billy Bryan (Denver/Holy Name) added 12 points with Ernest Cherry getting 11 points off the bench.
Cheyney got 20 points from both Rainey and King, while Husieen Edmonds scored 12 points and Andre Logan 10.
The Huskies are back in action Wednesday hosting Mansfield at 7:30 p.m.
