Bloomsburg Falls to East Stroudsburg in Men's Basketball

EAST STROUDSBURG —Bloomsburg University sophomore Ryan Nenstiel (Nuremburg/Weatherly) came off the bench to score 19 points, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies lost to East Stroudsburg, 77-59, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game Monday night.
The teams were tied three times in the opening four minutes of the game, the last being at 7-7, after a three-pointer from Bob Nenstiel (Nuremburg/Weatherly) with 16:19 left in the half. The Warriors then used a 22-2 run over the next five minutes to grab a 29-9 lead at the 11:41 mark. Sky Williams led the rally with nine points coming on three, three-pointers.
The Huskies got back to within 11 points on two occasions, the last at 36-25, with 2:30 to play in the half after a Ryan Nenstiel three-pointer.
After East Stroudsburg pushed the lead back to 21 points early in the second half, the Huskies once again rallied. Using a 14-4 run, keyed by seven points from Ryan Nenstiel and five points from Bob Nenstiel, Bloomsburg trailed by just 10 points, 56-46, with 11:29 to play in the game.
But, the Warriors responded with a 14-0 run of its own to push the lead up to 24 points, 70-46, at the 5:17 to play mark. Back-to-back baskets from Murvin English and a three-pointer from Williams started the rally for the Warriors. Bloomsburg got no closer than 18 points the rest of the game.
Ryan Nenstield finished with 19 points and six assists, while Bob Nenstiel added 13 points and Matt Fisher (Cogan Station/Jersey Shore) 10 for the Huskies, now 5-17, 1-6 in the PSAC East.
East Stroudsburg was led by Sky Williams' 21 points, while Anthony Ross added 17 and Danny Hargrove 12 for the 11-10, 5-2 PSAC East, Warriors.
The Huskies are back in action Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. hosting Kutztown.
